Gardens for Wildlife
Gardens for Wildlife is a volunteer program by Whitehorse City Council that offers guidance on sustainable practices, promotes community involvement, and enhances local ecosystems. They do this by turning gardens into sanctuaries for native wildlife, fostering environmental awareness and stewardship.

Positioning Statement
Problem
Community members have become more isolated from each other and disconnected from nature, partly due to lifestyle changes accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Target Audience
Whitehorse residents, particularly young parents and first-home buyers aged 25-30, who are interested in connecting with the community, gardening, sustainability, and the environment.
Need
These residents are seeking ways to reconnect with their community and nature, expand their gardening knowledge, and actively participate in environmental sustainability.
Offer
Our concept, “Let’s Grow Wild,” provides a community experience fostering a collaborative and hands-on learning environment that enhances local biodiversity and eco-awareness.
Let’s Grow Wild!
The ‘Let’s Grow Wild!’ initiative aims to bridge the gap of disconnection by encouraging Gardens for Wildlife volunteers and participants to invite one another into their homes and gardens.
Guests are encouraged to bring seeds, plants, or other environmentally beneficial items to enhance the host’s garden, fostering a sense of community connection and environmental stewardship all while having a great time together.
